Unconscious Mind Board Game Insert / Organizer

Organizer/insert only. Does not include the board game!

This is an insert / organizer for Unconscious Mind in the Kickstarter Collector’s Edition box with all the released expansions to date (November 2024).  It supports premium sleeves, vertical storage, has no lid lift, and was designed to aid setup and teardown.  A primary goal of this insert is to reduce the game’s footprint on the table and display the components so everyone can easily seen them, so most of the trays support rails that hold cards and tiles vertically, as shown in the photos.  There’s a lot going on in this one, so you might want to watch the video embedded below.  But for you text lovers (I’m one of you, too!), here are some features.

In-Game Trays (to be placed directly on the table)

• Dream and client card trays with labeled removable rails to hold the cards vertically.  The client card trays are deep enough to hold the uncanny clients from the Nightmares expansion, although there is space in the Nightmares setup tray (discussed below) to hold them if you are not playing with that expansion.
• Three-tiered treatise tile display.  Each row of treatise tiles has the same symbols on the front, and the leftmost volume on each corresponds to the icons on the front. So if you look at how I have it set up in the images, the entire bottom row has the same red location icons on them. The entire middle row has the same set of purple location icons, which you can tell because the leftmost volume on each is purple. And the entire top row has the same set of green location icons, which you can tell because the leftmost volume on each is green.
• Two-tiered location goal tile display.  To store the location rails in the box, roll the meeting room mat around them and then place the two mat rings around the mat to keep it rolled tightly.
• Nightmares card tray and token tray, each with a slot for a rail to hold the Nightmares madness reference card and the Treatise of the Dead.
• Bright ideas token tray to separate the two values of bright ideas.
• Research card tray that is deep enough to hold both sets of expansion research cards from the Nightmares and Free Association expansions.  This tray also has a removable rail to hold two research cards vertically.
• District token trays.  I preferred not to place stacks of the district tokens, as they are small and prone to falling over.  I created some small trays to hold them, and at the tops of these trays is a spot to hold the district token depicting a reputation symbol.  This makes it easy to see if that token is still available at each of the locations.

Setup Trays (to be placed in the box after setup)

• Individual player trays hold everything a player needs to set up their board, including insight dials (both base game and the cracked insight dials for use with the Nightmares expansion), insight tokens, scoring markers, inkpots, idea tokens, office board, pet board, pet meeple and mini, professor meeple and mini, and a set of player aids.
• Three additional setup trays to hold the remaining components used during setup, as well as the modules you can select to play with or leave in the trays to go back in the box. A couple of the trays held within these setup trays can go on the table, including the district token trays and bright ideas trays discussed above.
• A dedicated Solo setup tray that includes a removable card tray to place the solo meeting cards directly on the table.
• A dedicated Nightmares setup tray that holds the Treatise of the Dead, uncanny clients, uncanny grief layers, Nightmares research cards, madness score marker, and Nightmares starting tiles.
• A dedicated space to hold the meeting room neoprene mat.
• A tray to hold any additional minis or redundant components you’d like to store in the box.

This insert does not hold the larger location and longer card row neoprene mats.  Both of those mats have specific locations for placing cards and tiles, but those locations go unused if using the vertical approach this insert provides.
